La musica presta le parole “concerto” e “concertazione oppure il verbo “concertare” a diversi altri ambiti nei quali si voglia indicare l’unione armoniosa di parti differenti, la direzione concorde di un dialogo iniziato da posizioni distanti, lo sforzo di individui differenti verso il raggiungimento di un risultato comune. Di questa premessa sono sviluppo molte partiture in cui la dimensione solo-tutti è esplorata senza insistere troppo sull’individualismo dei solisti. Ciò accade in varie epoche: dal Settecento di Mozart che nella Sinfonia concertante K364 duplica la parte a solo guardando anche al suo passato e al concerto grosso barocco, fino al Novecento di Schönberg che nella Kammersymphonie (sinfonia da camera) dimostra come la sua nuova tecnica compositiva con dodici suoni si presti alla musica d’insieme, oppure di Milhaud che nelle musiche per “Le boeuf sur le toit” concerta lo spirito eclettico della Francia d’inizio secolo con le suggestioni provenienti dall’America.
